We seek to convene and organize a national group of public health professors and scholars advocating for health and equity.

We are deeply concerned by the lack of representation of Latinx scholars in faculty and leadership ranks of academic public health.

The exclusion Latinx and other people of color from faculty and leadership in academic public health hinders essential functions of public health. It deters the missions of our American Public Health Association of improving “the health of the public and achieve equity in health status” and of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) “to strengthen the capacity of members by advancing leadership, excellence, and collaboration for academic public health.” Racial inequity, within academic public health and beyond, is a major obstacle to achieve health equity.

As members of the public health community, is our professional duty and moral obligation to advocate for racial equity within our academic institutions.

Latinx Public Health Faculty Collective promotes health and racial equity by advocating for greater representation of Latinx scholars in faculty and leadership roles in schools and programs of public health in the United States.

Rising the representation of Latinx scholars includes: communicating their voices, supporting recruitment and retention at all levels of faculty and leadership ranks, developing and strengthening pipelines, and promoting antiracist culture and policies within academic public health.

We invite leaders and colleagues from academic institutions as well as the American Public Health Association, the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, the National Institutes of Health, CDC, and the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) to join our call to action to increase the representation and power of Latina/o/x faculty in our schools and programs of public health
